CHANGE FOR CANADIAN POLITICS

It's a shame to think that I know more about American politics than Canadian politics.  I'm sure this is the same for other Canadians.  This 2008 election seemed to blow by leaving a lot of Canadians unsure on who to vote for.  The American elections on the other hand was rammed down everyones throat. Anyone in America who says they don't know who to vote for is, well, living on another planet.

The Canadian election campaigns are way to short and the American elections are too long.  We had one debate to go by and not much else.  The american elections had multiple debates and dozens of speeches explaining what they as a leader were about. In Canada it's like lets get this thing done because nobody cares anyways!

Canadian politics needs to be taken more seriously and thats that. People need to demand more coverage and start taking an interest in their country.  How can anyone say they're are not interested in politics when your whole life revolves around it?  Do you have a mortgage? Financing a car?  Have a family? Use health care?  Or plan on using any of these in the future? Then you may be a part of a society and where their are people or living creatures there is politics.

CANADIAN TELEVISION

There are very few Canadians television shows and why is that? Canada is an interesting place if not more interesting than the states because fewer people live here.  You'd think there would be an audience seeing as American culture has been rammed down our throats enough.  There are lots of shows filmed in Canada but they are not Canadian they are ALL American shows and movies.

Even if someone wants to do a Canadian project investors will want it to take place in America and contain American content.  This is because if it contains American content it will have a larger audience because Americans aren't interested in anything outside their own country. That's a generalization by the way.

I remember seeing a cartoon playing on a primarily Canadian channel about George bush as a little kid.  It made me think why isn't it about OUR Prime Minister?  Our politicians are just as funny.

NOBODY CARES ABOUT CANADA?

I never was a proud Canadian until recently.  It all started when  I was watching rick mercer and decided to search for more of his videos online... I'm a dork but he's hilarious!  I started to realize that canada is actually an interesting country and has it's own cultural.  I started looking for more Canadian shows and stuff on Canada preferably funny.  Do you know what I found?  Not much.

I was very disappointed, I mean the few things I found were really funny like Canadian comedians making jokes but in general not a lot on Canada.  Then after the 2008 elections this year with Canadians having an all time low turnout I starting to think.  I thought about rick mercers "talking to americans" In this segment he would ask the american public as well as important american politicians simple questions about Canada to demonstrate they didn't know anything.

I started to wonder if we were to ask a lot of the same questions that rick mercer asked americans would Canadians be just as bad?  Rick mercer asked "would you ever visit the capital of Canada Toronto? This is crazy of course because its Ottawa.  He asked this to the public as well as politicians and both proved ignorance.  I bet if we were to ask similar questions Canadians would be just as bad or close.
